What differentiated Goanna from so many other bands was also the presence of two women. Rose and Marce were not only both virtuoso singers and performers in their own right, their harmonies were unparalleled and they were both very capable musicians. Both Rose and Marce played keyboards and guitar as well. They were also both songwriters.
They cut a new path for women in what was predominantly a male dominated industry at the time. It wasn't easy. The world of rock n' roll was filled with sexism, misogyny and patriarchy in those early days. But Rose and Marce blazed a new trail for women in the contemporary music world at that time. They were feminine, without being sex objects. They were strong without being hard.
More importantly, they gave a voice to women who could identify with them and they inspired a generation of younger women in the music industry that followed in their footsteps.
